The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA), a Schedule 3 government component of the Department of Cooperative Governance (DCoG), invites applications for its Apprenticeship and Experiential Learnership Programmes for the 2024/25 financial year. MISA’s mandate is to provide technical support and build technical capacity for municipalities to enhance their capability in planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure.
A. MISA Apprenticeship Programme (Ref No: APP INTERN 01/2024)
The Apprenticeship Programme is a three-year Learnership Programme aimed at training successful learners to become Artisans. While the programme is open to all, historically disadvantaged individuals are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will undergo on-the-job and off-the-job training to qualify as Artisans. The programme targets youth from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions with relevant qualifications. The apprentices will enter into contracts with MISA and be placed with municipalities for the duration of the learnership.

– Plumbing
– Bricklaying
– Electrical
– Diesel Mechanic
– Motor Mechanic
B. Experiential Learnership Programme
1. Graduates in Technical Fields (Ref No: EL INTERN 11/2024a): MISA offers 2-year internship opportunities to graduates in technical fields relevant to municipal infrastructure operations and maintenance.
2. Work Integrated Learning (Ref No: EL INTERN 11/2024b): This programme provides practical work experience (or work integrated learning) for learners requiring 12 – 24 months to complete their study programmes in Civil and Electrical Engineering, and Town and Regional Planning.

– All applications must include the reference number of the applied trade/position and the name of the municipality as per the list provided.
– Required documents include a curriculum vitae, certified copies of relevant qualifications, certified copy of the applicant’s South African identity document, and proof of residential address.
– Applications should be emailed to the specified addresses for each programme, as indicated in the advertisement.
