Job Description:

Rosebank College, part of the Independent Institute of Education (The IIE), seeks a Programme Coordinator for the Commerce Faculty. The IIE is a leading private higher education institution in South Africa. Rosebank College has provided quality tertiary education for over 70 years and serves over 20,000 students.

Job Purpose:

To monitor and support a programme and its stakeholders by ensuring the performance of lectures, the delivery of Teaching-Learning as well as results submission. To support students and Lecturers and to oversee all programme-related administration. To support assessments, ICE, Lecturers applying this, and attending to assessment errors. To honour a lecturing load of one or more modules based on the profile of the campus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

– Deliver lectures and engage with students (10 hours per week + online engagement) based on module-specific requirements.
– Update Learning Management System and provide feedback to students.
– Assure the quality of lecturer engagement, attendance, and participation to enhance Teaching-Learning quality.
– Design and implement module-specific interventions and resources.
– Analyze results to assess module performance and identify at-risk modules.
– Conduct lecturer orientation to support student experience.
– Manage subject meetings and obtain feedback.
– Develop strategies to improve module performance with the Head of Academics.
– Plan interventions based on performance analysis.
– Ensure consistency in teaching concepts taught.
– Monitor student retention, roll over, and dropout rates.
– Coordinate academic activities and implement master classes and mock tests.
– Inform Lecturers about available academic resources.
– Evaluate Lecturer performance to track module pass rates.
– Ensure the campus is adequately resourced by participating in interview panels.
– Assist with student registration and orientation.
– Encourage academic staff participation in Celebrate Teaching-Learning.
– Mediate relationships and disputes between Lecturers and students.
– Assist the WIL Coordinator with tracking academic progress and submission of Portfolios of Evidence.

Minimum Requirements:

– Honours (NQF Level 8) qualification in Business Management, Marketing, or Accounting and Finance.
– Ideal: Post Graduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in Higher Education or equivalent.
– 1 to 2 years of classroom-based teaching and Community of Best Practice exposure.
– 3 years lecturing experience.
– Programme coordination on a modular level.
– 2 to 3 years full-time exposure to academic cycles and structures.
– 1 to 3 years of industry-specific experience in the area of specialization.
– Understanding of the South African Further Education and Higher Education environment and regulatory framework.
– Knowledge of Teaching-Learning theory, assessment methods, and interventions for rural and urban students.
– Holistic lecturer and student support services.

Key Competencies:

– Knowledge of South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
– Understanding of Teaching and Learning theory and interventions.
– Ability to provide student support services.
– Proficiency in digital academic platforms.
– Adaptability to a frequently changing environment.
– Adherence to work regulations.
– Deadline-oriented and able to work under pressure.
– Effective time management.

Working Hours:

Classes are scheduled from 08:00 am until 17:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Working hours depend on the modules allocated.

Salary:

Market-related.
