AVI Limited, a leader in the food and beverages industry, is seeking a skilled Packaging Maintenance Technician for their National Brands Limited facility in Isando, specializing in coffee and creamer. This role involves maintaining high-speed packaging machinery and ensuring smooth operations through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

– Maintain and support high-speed packaging lines.
– Perform emergency repairs, routine checks, and preventive maintenance.
– Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment issues.
– Collaborate with operations, engineering, safety, and quality teams.
– Evaluate and improve production line processes.
– Enhance production rates, efficiencies, yields, and cost-effectiveness.
– Optimize overall equipment effectiveness by improving reliability and minimizing defects.
– Manage critical spare parts inventory.
– Work with contractors for calibrations and validations.
– Ensure structural security and maintenance per quality standards.
– Assist the broader maintenance team with complex tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

– At least 8 years of experience as a technician in high-speed packaging machines and plant equipment maintenance within an FMCG environment.

Qualifications:

– Matric / Grade 12
– Trade tested as an artisan (Fitter or Millwright) at an accredited training facility
– Completed Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or minimum N4 qualification

Additional Requirements:

– Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
– Understanding of pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems
– PLC programming and VSD setup knowledge (advantageous)
– Familiarity with QMS, HACCP, and GMP standards (advantageous)
