Seriti is seeking a skilled Metallurgist for their Pegasus Colliery in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. This role involves embedding continuous improvement principles and initiatives to ensure resources are directed effectively at high-value projects.

Responsibilities:

– Evaluate and analyze plant processes to identify improvement opportunities.
– Ensure plant laboratory systems comply with SANS standards.
– Measure, track, and manage coal quality to meet required limits.
– Provide technical advice and support to the processing plant.
– Assist with metallurgical accounting activities.
– Implement critical controls to enhance safety.
– Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant processes as outlined in the business plan.
– Develop and assist in the implementation of the Seriti Management Operating System (MOS), ensuring best practices and stakeholder commitment.
– Facilitate reward and recognition for business improvement initiatives.
– Support and prepare for business strategy sessions.
– Prioritize business improvement initiatives.
– Develop systems to support change initiatives, maintaining simplicity and promoting standardization.
– Conduct yield improvement tests and investigate opportunities.
– Manage and adhere to quality management systems.
– Apply appropriate analytical methods and continuously monitor product qualities.
– Interact with the marketing department to meet requirements.
– Regularly evaluate unit process efficiencies.
– Fulfill Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) responsibilities.

Requirements:

– BSc in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing Honours, B-Tech Honours, or B-Tech.
– 4 years of relevant experience in a mining environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity (acting experience included).
– Experience in coal processing plants.
– In-depth knowledge of processing.
– Proficiency in English.
– Proficiency in MS Office and SAP or equivalent systems.
– Valid Code B driver’s license.
– Valid Certificate of Fitness or ability to obtain one.

Advantageous:

– Ability to use Process Explorer, LIMS, Minitab, or SAP software.
